From Lignerolles it is just 28 km to the city of Caen, with museums, shops, markets etc. At the coast you will find the Normandy Landing Beaches where the Allies in 1944 landed to liberate Normandy and France, to have Belgium and Holland liberated after that.
Many small fisherports along the coast have nice terraces, where you can enjoy the famous Normandy "cidre" or "calvados", with or without fresh mussels and oysters.
The very famous Le Mont St. Michel is a 75 miles drive away from the Chateau.
